| "A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013." |
Charlotte: Couch-bound for much of the weekend, my poor sick baby didn't get much of a chance to enjoy the fluffy white stuff.
Milestones
- Charlie now pronounces her love for any number of objects, so I thought I had my chance. Instead it went like this...Charlie: "I wuv chips! I wuv ham! I wuv cheese!" Me: "I love you!" Charlie: "Aww. You wuv me."
- Harbinger of things to come... Vivi: "Can you show me where Florida is on the globe?" (I pointed) Vivi: "Ah, that's why it's warmer there than it is here. Florida is closer to the equator." Where's my baby?
- On the other hand, her Piagetian sense of object permanence is still developing; thus, she believes she is invisible after covering herself with a blanket. So, I guess I have a few more years of kiddom.
Media
- I'm jealous that I didn't write this article about how snow builds community. Amen, brother.
- A great {Living with Kids} article by Design Mom. I am stealing her timed "FIVE MINUTE CLEAN-UP!" idea.
- For those of you like me who miss 30 Rock already, here are some favorite jokes told as infographics. My personal favorite from that list comes from Jack Donaghy:
Meals
- Blizzard grub: Brined & roasted chicken (lemon & thyme) with roasted Brussels sprouts, celery root puree (from the Beekman book), and cranberry sauce
- Savory pocket pies (recipe tomorrow)
- We have been enjoying Suburban Matron's idea for cooking eggs in the microwave, except I don't scramble mine. Crack egg into an oiled cereal bowl, add a small plate on top, cook at half power for 2 minutes. Voila! This week I've been serving them with dijon and havarti on everything bagel bread from Trader Joe's, next to a bowl of 10 grain hot cereal from Bob's Red Mill. It's a breakfast that sticks with you for climbing snow mountains.
